Academic Officer to support Research teams at Section for Geogenetics, Globe InstituteThe Section for GeoGenetics is looking for an academic officer with experience in research administration to commence October 1st 2025 or after agreement.Your jobYou will be an integral part of a growing team supporting the management and administration of multi-disciplinary projects headed by Professor Eske Willerslev.About UsThe workplace is the Section for GeoGenetics, a globally renowned research facility specializing in ancient DNA. At GeoGenetics, a diverse team of academic researchers with expertise in genetics, ecology, evolutionary biology, computer science, statistics, geology, chemistry, and related fields collaborate to reconstruct human history and ancient environments through the analysis of various materials—such as ice, soil, sediments, bones, and micro- or macrofossils. The findings offer crucial insights into ecological and evolutionary processes, including the impacts of climate change and human activities.The positionWe Are Recruiting An Experienced, Structured, And Highly Motivated Person For a Full-time Academic Officer Position. The Position Will Cover a Variety Of Administrative Tasks Of High Operational Importance And Includes The Following Essential Functions
  • Administration of very busy calendars.
  • Travel planning, booking and accounting.
  • Planning and coordination of meetings, seminars, workshops and other collaborative activities.
  • Support existing projects at various stages to timely deliver research reportings etc. in collaboration with other core staff.
  • Collaborations with the section and Institute administration, as well as administrative departments at the central university level.
  • Support with ad hoc tasks.
QualificationsThe position requires that the candidate has an overview of the tasks and an ability to work independently in a structured manner; sound judgement, and is flexible. Further qualificationsInclude
  • Academic background preferably within the natural sciences.
  • Documented experience as project manager or coordinator in a university research or development organisation.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills as well as strict adherence to ethical business and research practices.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, strong attention to details and excellent time management skills.
  • Solid computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
  • Excellent collaboration skills.
Terms of employmentThe average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications.
