Job Description: SUNY Broome Community College is seeking dynamic, collaborative, and student-centered candidates for a full-time, 12-month, tenure track Academic Advisor position. Position Overview: The Academic Advisor plays a crucial role in guiding students through academic program requirements to ensure a successful path to graduation. Responsibilities include assisting with course selection and registration, providing individualized and group support related to career and transfer goals, interpreting institutional policies and procedures, explaining general education requirements, and referring students to appropriate academic and student support services. Additional Responsibilities:
- Coordinate campus advising programs.
- Teach students how to register for courses.
- Maintain detailed records of advisement and monitor academic progress of assigned advisees.
- Represent the department on campus-wide committees and engage in outreach to the campus community.
SUNY Broome utilizes appreciative advising to offer comprehensive, holistic academic support. Advisors will be assigned caseloads within one or more of the following divisions: Liberal Arts, Business and Professional Studies, or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Requirements:- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree and experience in higher education preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in academic advising, registration, or student support within higher education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to student-centered advising and collaboration with faculty and staff across campus.
- Proficiency with BANNER, MyCollege, DegreeWorks, and other student success technologies.
- Ability to interpret and clearly communicate academic program requirements and deliver presentations to classes and groups.

Additional Information: The minimum salary for this position is $58,307. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
