Description The Allen-Sherman-Hoff (A-S-H) business unit, a material handling company of the Babcock & Wilcox Company, is looking for an A-S-H Electrical Controls Engineer. This position is a direct contributor that works with cross-functional teams to directly service our customers with technical expertise on the vast material handling products and services A-S-H can provide. The role will be multifaceted in that it will include direct and virtual interface with customers, vendors, field service, and other engineering disciplines. Working closely with the current A-S-H teams this individual will provide technical design expertise in the area of Electrical Controls Engineering for material handling systems.
  • Develop control system designs, control panel engineering, PLC and HMI programming, Boolean logic design of pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical material handling systems.
  • Site start-up responsibilities for material handling system controls including assisting A-S-H Field Service Engineers.
  • Analytical problem-solver, applying their knowledge and experience to electrical controls design, programming and troubleshooting.
  • Design work will be performed to the contract specification requirements for new material handling equipment projects.
  • Work with A-S-H team to assist with proposals based on customer RFQ's.
  • Assist A-S-H Field Service Engineers with system training for on-site operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Travel will be expected 20% of the time at a minimum.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Experience with Allen Bradley RSView Factory Talk and Wonderware software is required.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD is recommended.
  • Ability to work efficiently within a Technical Team Environment in support material handling system design.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and create new engineering drawings representing individual products and systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technology.
  • 5+ years' related experience
  • Technical background in utility and/or heavy industrial mechanical
  • Demonstrated organization, communication and presentation skills
  • Proven customer service on-site track record and ability to work in high pressure situations
  • Willingness to commit level of work required to meet deadlines as needed
