Position Type: Student Support Services/School Counselor Date Posted: 5/12/2025 Location: Sanborn Regional School District Date Available: 2025-2026 Closing Date: 06/27/2025 Job Summary -To provide comprehensive counseling services to students, supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth Qualifications -Master's Degree in School Counseling or related field. -New Hampshire License as a School Counselor -Must pass a background check. Supervisor -Principal Performance Responsibilities Planning and Preparation -Demonstrating the ability to implement counseling theory and techniques. -Demonstrating knowledge of child and adolescent development. -Demonstrating knowledge of state and federal regulations and of resources both within and beyond the school and district. -Planning the counseling program integrated with the regular school program. -Developing a plan to evaluate the counseling program. -Implement the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for academics and behavior. The Environment -Creating an environment of respect and rapport. -Establishing a culture of effective communication. -Establishing standards of conduct and contributing to the culture for student behavior throughout the school. -Organizing the counseling space and office. Delivery of Services -Support students' continuous learning. -Assessing student needs. -Assist students in developing essential skills and coping mechanisms through individual counseling, group sessions, and classroom presentations. -Using counseling techniques in individual, small group, and classroom programs. (MTSS-Behavior) -Provide crisis intervention and support to students experiencing emergencies or emotional distress. -Provide resources and support to parents/guardians regarding their child's academic progress and socio-emotional well-being. -Conduct assessments and/or collect data to identify students with social, emotional, or behavioral needs or those in need of additional support services. -Make referrals to outside agencies, such as mental health professionals or community resources, when necessary. -Serve as a case manager for Section 504 students in collaboration with the Assistant Principal. -Prepare testing accommodations for local, district, and state testing Professional Responsibilities -Engage in reflective practice. -Maintaining records and submitting them in a timely fashion. -Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in counseling practice. -Contribute to school community and culture by leading events, programs, or activities that further the culture of well-being in the school and bring the values of the school to life through modeling and positive action. -Regularly seek out and identify high-quality opportunities to grow and learn, identifying problems of practice or areas of inquiry that inform individual and collaborative learning opportunities. -Exhibit high standards of ethical practice and wise decision making on behalf of students, families, and colleagues. -Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Principal or Principal.
