**4-H Support Specialist - Lowville, NY**

This position will serve as the 4-H Support Specialist for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Lewis County and will provide program coordination and support to the 4-H Program. This position will organize and coordinate activities relatingto county and state fair; coordinate, and assist other 4-H staff with all aspects of the 4-H enrollment and reporting process; provide administrative assistance in the recruitment of new 4-H clubs and groups in Lewis County; assist in the coordination of 4-H fundraising and trips; maintain regularcommunication and oversight to volunteer leaders to ensure clubs are active and leader needs are met; and serve as an accessible resource to program volunteers, including assisting in providing orientation and ongoing support and follow-up, to assist in ensuring initial and continued 4-H Club success. This position will provide coordination and support for 4-H programming efforts, including assisting with implementation when necessary for 4-H programming both in and out of schools. This position will utilize existing program resources and materials in program work.

**POSITION DETAILS:**

This position is a part-time non-exempt position - 53.3% FTE, 20 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $17.00. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave.

**Required Qualifications:**

+ Associates Degree or equivalent education (High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of transferrable program/functional experience).

+ Experience relevant to the role of the position.

+ Valid New York State Drivers license and the ability to meet travel requirements of the position.

+ Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.**Preferred Qualifications:**

**Program Responsibilities:**

**Delivery - 10%**

+ Utilize established program resources and materials in providing information and resources to program participants in established 4-H programming (i.e. 4-H Club programming).

+ Teach existing educational programs and activities as defined in support of 4-H programming efforts both in and out of schools, in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

+ Utilize a variety of established delivery methods to teach 4-H Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programming, including, but not limited to: one-on-one and group classes, experiential learning, and a variety of 4-H activities.

+ Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire Association and 4-H Youth Development Program staff to achieve Association program delivery goals.**Administrative Responsibilities:**

**Direction - 5%**

+ Assist Program Manager and other 4-H staff with non-complex administrative tasks in the planning of educational programs in 4-H Youth Development.

+ Provide administrative assistance in planning for mass media efforts in 4-H Youth Development.**Management - 5%**

+ Assist with volunteer management to include:

- Assist with recruitment activities of new 4-H Clubs, 4-H Club Leaders, and other volunteers in Lewis County.

- Serve as an accessible resource to volunteers by assisting with providing follow-up support to ensure initial and continued 4-H Club success.

- Assist with problem solving and resolving issues that arise, as needed.

- Assist in providing existing guidance to program volunteers in accordance with established practices and procedures.

+ Assist the Program Manager and other 4-H staff with identifying, anticipating, recommending and planning for 4-H Club needs/supplies.**Coordination/Operation - 75%**

+ Coordinate, and assist other 4-H staff, with all aspects of the 4-H enrollment and reporting process.

+ Maintain regular communication with volunteer leaders to ensure clubs are active and leader needs are met.

+ Assist in the coordination of 4-H fundraisers and trips.

+ Assist with program evaluation to include: collecting evaluation and needs assessment data from program participants.

+ Assist in providing volunteer orientation.

+ Organize and coordinate activities and exhibits relating to county and state fair.

+ Coordinate, compile and organize existing program resources and program materials.

+ Under the direction of the Program Manager, coordinate and assist with projects and outreach efforts as instructed.

+ Provide administrative support for the coordination and implementation of multi-media efforts in the promotion of programming.

+ Draft communications and correspondence for review by Executive Director for eventual distribution as appropriate.

+ Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.

+ This program may require the transport of program participants and/or program materials and resources, and will exercise care when utilizing any Association owned property and/or resources while performing position responsibilities.**Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%**

+ In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.

+ Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension including but not limited to attendance at staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff, general marketing of Extension programs and other duties as assigned.**Health and Safety - Applied to all duties and functions.**

+ Support the association to maintain a safe working environment.

+ Be familiar and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
