Sigma Inc. is seeking a dedicated 3rd Shift Sanitation Worker to operate in a food manufacturing facility that produces butter products in Hicksville, NY. This is a physically demanding role focused on sanitation of industrial equipment under strict safety and quality protocols—not a janitorial role.
Key ResponsibilitiesDismantle and sanitize industrial food equipment (plumbing systems transporting pudding from kettles to filling machines).
Clean large kettles using elbow grease, chemicals, and power washers, following detailed Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP).
Ensure proper handling and dilution of chemicals per guidelines and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Perform CIP (Chemical In Place) operations and clean milk silos.
Record sanitation activities using master sanitation and daily paperwork.
Provide technical support and training to other sanitarians when needed.
Comply with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safety protocols.
Respond to sanitation emergencies promptly.
Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure equipment meets cleanliness standards.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Mechanically inclined: ability to assemble/disassemble equipment.
Ability to follow detailed written and verbal procedures.
Knowledge of MSDS, CIP operation, and sanitation procedures.
Fluent in English or Spanish (must read and write).
Strong physical ability: stand for entire shifts, bend, kneel, lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
Experience using PC, proprietary software, and basic office equipment.
Familiarity with lab equipment and kettle enabling systems.
Standing during entire shift.
Occasional work in hot or cold temperatures.
Frequent exposure to high noise typical of production environments.
Required to wear steel-toed shoes and safety gear.
A REQUIRED BACKGROUND CHECK and DRUG TEST must be completed before starting the assignment.
Steel-toed shoes are required (composite safety shoe covers may be provided if unavailable).
Willingness to work Saturdays as required.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to work independently after training.
