Hoquiam School District No. 28 Physical Therapist Job Description Position Open Until Filled - First Screening Date: 3/28/25 Days/Hours: 90 Work Days/ Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM Required Attachments:

Note - This is a 1.0 FTE position and will require travel between schools. This position is split between Aberdeen and Hoquiam School Districts. All special education staff must be Right Response certified. Location: District-wide (potentially shared with neighboring district) Overview: The School-Based Physical Therapist provides services to students with disabilities to support their access to education. The therapist evaluates, plans, and implements individualized interventions that enhance students' functional mobility, gross motor skills, and participation in the school environment. The role requires collaboration with educators, families, and other service providers to promote student success. Key Responsibilities: Meaningful Relationships:
  • Confers with physicians and other practitioners to obtain additional student information; implements revisions in treatment program
  • Works as a team member with the student, family, teachers, special education staff, and other health care practitioners to help the student achieve desired goals
  • Serves as a consultant for physical therapy matters to other staff members; serves on committees (including IEP teams) and participates in meetings.
Engaged Learners
  • Develops, plans, implements, and revises IEP goals and objectives and treatment plans to meet each student's particular needs.
  • Administers physical therapy techniques and procedures to improve and maintain student function.
  • Instructs, motivates, and assists students to perform various physical activities as well as use of assistive and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, wheelchairs, and prostheses.
  • Integrates physical therapy treatment with other aspects of student's educational program
Adaptive Pathways
  • Evaluates students in the areas of functional mobility, neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, and gross motor function to determine physical therapy needs.
  • Maintains up-to-date cumulative physical therapy records and other records as required by the District and state and federal law; follows all relevant state and federal regulations for special education; maintains confidentiality.
Community Connections
  • Oversees maintenance of a sanitary and safe environment in the physical therapy treatment area and works with the special services office to replace/repair when needed
Other Job Duties: Maintains professional competence, stays up to date on laws and certifications, participates in professional development, and fulfills job requirements that impact the school community. Salary: 180 Base Salary = $60,204.38 - $117,387.72 4 Professional Days = $1,337.88 - $2,602.96 Benefits: State allocation towards dental, vision, medical insurance, retirement, 12 sick leave days, 3 personal leave days. Employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a Washington State Patrol, FBI fingerprint criminal history background check, and Sexual Misconduct background check.
