Position Description SHIFT: DAYS, M-F 8A-5P This position covers the ambulatory pediatric pulmonary and sleep clinic at the CHRISTUS Children's Hospital. The tests that we perform are:
Spirometry Testing DLCO (diffusion capacity of carbon monoxide) FENO (fraction of exhaled nitric oxide) Body Box (Body Plethysmography) MVV (Maximum Voluntary Ventilation MIP/MEP (Maximum Inspiratory and Expiratory pressures Six Minute Walk test Incentive Spirometry Spacer Teaching 4 Puffs Albuterol Cystic Fibrosis Sputum Swabs Methacholine Challenge Summary: This position is responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered per physician, to patients with respiratory disorders. Responsibilities: Provides therapeutic and diagnostic use of medical gases, humidifiers and aerosols; the administration of drugs and medications to the cardiorespiratory system; ventilatory assistance and ventilatory control; chest physiotherapy for bronchial hygiene; breathing exercises; respiratory rehabilitation; cardiopulmonary resuscitation; maintenance of natural airway and insertion and maintenance of artificial airways to assigned patient(s), new admissions and transfers to other floors within the facility. Identifies patient care problems/needs; establishes patient outcomes in response to identified needs; and implements and documents patient care in collaboration with the health care team. Evaluates patient health care status in relation to outcomes achieved as a result of respiratory therapy interventions and/or interventions by other team members. Collaborates with the health care team to identify and meet respiratory therapy needs throughout the course of care. Clearly communicates with and provides education to patients and families concerning diagnosis, treatment, hospitalization and post discharge care concerning respiratory care. Delivers patient condition shift report to therapist on the oncoming shift. Responds to emergency situations. Demonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the population-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department. Appropriately adapts assigned patient assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific and other developmental needs of each patient served. Demonstrates adherence to the core values of Santa Rosa Health Care in the provisions of patient care and interaction with the health care team. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements: Education Must be a graduate of a C.A.A.H.E.P. approved respiratory therapy program. Experience Previous experience preferred but not required. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications RT or RCP License in state of TX required Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC required BLS ( AHA only ) certification is required. ACLS (AHA) is recommended and highly preferred. Work Type: Full Time
