Position Type: Administration/Director Date Posted: 7/23/2025 Location: 875 DISTRICT EDUCATION CENTER Job Title: Project Director 21st Century Grant Program Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of PK-5 Programs Date Revised: 07/19/2021 Dept./School: Administration Primary Purpose: Provides daily oversight of the 21st Century grant, including fiscal and personnel management, community relations, implementation, and evaluation. Directs Texas Afterschool Centers on Education programs to include summer and after school intervention and enrichment programs at 10 primary and elementary campuses. Oversees student cohorts with the goals of increasing academic performance, attendance, positive behavior and student engagement through after school and summer programs. This position is funded with Title IV, Part B 21st Century (Fund 265).Qualifications: Education/Certification: Master's degree preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Strong knowledge of effective project management techniques Thorough knowledge of workforce development strategies Knowledge of techniques for partnership development Knowledge of occupational training opportunities Ability to coordinate large projects with multiple activities and diverse participants Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing Ability to make effective presentations Ability to work with students and families of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds Experience: Minimum of two years of successful experience in teaching, counseling, social work, or related field preferred Experience working within the public school system preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Oversee day-to-day operations of the 21st Century project including supervising 21st Century Site Coordinators. 2. Develop a work plan in accordance with goals, objectives, and funding limitations to implement parent and student programs at 21st Century school sites. 3. Oversee program operations and coordinate services with school staff. 4. Design and implement a comprehensive plan with identified strategies and timelines that are grade-level specific to increase student achievement, attendance, positive behavior, and student engagement. 5. Develop partnerships and coordinate advisory board meetings to develop comprehensive strategies for increasing college attendance rates. 6. Coordinates 21st Century program/services with district, local school, and other community programs/services and with district, school-based, and other personnel. 7. Designs and implements a variety of K-5 instructional activities, materials, and strategies related to student growth and achievement and access for use with individual students and small groups. 8. Works to establish teams to develop a support system for targeted students. 9. Supports the Advisory Board with specific responsibilities of planning agendas, facilitating meetings, editing and sending detailed minutes, providing written progress reports, and following up with action items from meetings. 10. Develops, compiles and prepares communications, promotional literature, and/or program tools for distribution such as newsletters, flyers, or curriculum materials. Promotes the 21st Century program to the community, school staff, and the media. 11. Coordinates the selection, administration and evaluation of 21st Century program formative assessments; ensures appropriate data collection to inform evaluation activities. 12. Prepares programmatic and statistical reports and disseminates information as required. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the 21st Century program and recommends revisions and improvements as needed. 13. Participates in local education collaboratives, committees, or taskforce meetings. Attends conferences and workshops to keep abreast of the regulations and expectations of the 21st Century grant. 14. Develops and/or conducts training for teachers and other staff regarding the 21st Century program. Coordinates professional development workshops for teachers and other school staff. 15. Prepares and monitors the program's budget and researches sources of additional funding. Customer Care Skills 18. Provide professional communication with students, parents, community members, staff, and other professionals at all times. 19. Use proper phone etiquette at all times, speaking slowly and clearly. Take reliable messages, and route to the appropriate staff. 20. Ensure superior customer care skills are used via eye contact, facial expressions, voice inflections, body language, and an attitude of going the extra mile for others. 21. Ensure all requests for information are dealt with in an appropriate timeframe. 22. Create and maintain a welcoming, service-oriented environment toward all internal and external customers. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise Site Coordinators at each primary and elementary campus and supervision of Family Engagement Specialist.
