Job Summary:The Sputter Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining sputtering equipment used to deposit thin film coatings on various substrates. This role ensures product quality, equipment performance, and production efficiency in accordance with established standards, procedures, andsafety regulations.Duties/Responsibilities:* Operate sputtering machines according to work orders and process specifications.* Prepare substrates for coating by cleaning, masking, or treating surfaces as required* Maintain chemical bath chemistry by following make up procedures and titration* Load and unload substrates into sputtering chambers while following handling procedures to avoid damage* Monitor process parameters such as pressure, temperature, power, and coating rates, adjusting as needed to maintain quality* Perform target changeovers based on schedule requirements including new target installation, minor and major cleaning procedures* Conduct basic preventative maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues* Inspect coated parts visually and using measurement tools to verify film thickness, adhesion, and uniformity* Document production data, quality checks, and equipment settings accurately in logs or electronic systems* Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with company and OSHA safety standards* Collaborate with quality, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve issues and improve processesRequired Skills/Abilities:* Ability to read and follow work instructions, blueprints, and technical specifications* Good problem-solving skills* High attention to detail* Basic math skills including measurement conversions and use of precision measuring instrumentsEducation and Experience:* High school diploma or GED is preferred* Technical college certificate is a plus* Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is a plus* Experience using measuring equipment is a plusPhysical Requirements:The characteristics listed below are representative of the physical demands required by an individual to successfully perform the essential duties of this position.
