*Non-Tenure-Track: Lecturer in Digital and Interactive Journalism - Fordham University : Job Details

Description The Department of Communication and Media Studies at Fordham University, The Jesuit University of New York, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Lecturer position with a specialization in Digital and Interactive Journalism, to commence as soon as possible. The position covers both Fordham's main Rose Hill campus in the Bronx and the Lincoln Center campus in Manhattan. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute pedagogically to the department's undergraduate major in Journalism, with potential to also contribute to the department's majors in Communication and Culture, Film and Television, and Digital Technologies and Emerging Media. The candidate would also have an opportunity to teach in our M.A. program in Public Media, the interdisciplinary program in New Media and Digital Design, and other programs across the university. About the Position We seek a candidate whose work focuses on digital and interactive journalism and how to use these skills to serve the public interest. Areas of interest for this job position include, but are not limited to, data-driven investigative journalism, automated journalism, AI technology, social media and mobile tools, and other multimedia skills that aim to serve issues of public interest, such as public health, social justice, climate change and environmental justice, scientific development, and more. We are looking for a candidate who has expertise and first-hand experience in journalism skills and practices that involve digital technologies and emerging ways of doing journalism with a future vision. The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop and teach hands-on, skill-based journalism courses through critical and practical approaches. Candidates who are familiar with computational methods, languages, and tools, such as SQL, R and R Studio, Python, and data visualization tools, are encouraged to apply. • Master's degree in Journalism, Communication, Media Studies, or related area
• Professional experience in journalism that involves digital and interactive skills described in About the Position, with a focus on public interest issues
• Ability to teach a variety of hands-on, skill-based courses to help grow and diversify the curricular offerings of our Journalism major
• A minimum of two years teaching experience in higher education, with teaching at a graduate level desirable but not essential
• Commitment to mentoring and advising students
