POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Manager – Civil/Structural Design, and working in the Plant Engineering Group, this position applies technical knowledge, insight, reasoning, and decision making to perform civil structural analyses and design of Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Uses structural engineering tools and implements appropriate standards to design Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures including post-processing analytical results and designing structures for various material types (concrete, steel, etc).
  • Interacts with other disciplines and structural engineering consultants to coordinate design activities and resolve technical problems. General knowledge of related fields is preferred for effective teamwork.
  • Helps develop and review requirements documents, methodology documents, calculations, specifications, design reports, and studies.
  • Possesses strong written and oral communication skills and interacts routinely with contractors and regulatory bodies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Skills, Qualifications And Abilities
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; advanced degree preferred. PE license strongly preferred.
    • Experience: At least 2 years in structural design engineering. Relevant experience includes design and analysis of concrete and steel structures, using software, and familiarity with codes like ASCE 43, ASCE 4, ACI 349 & 318, etc.
    • Technical Skills: Knowledge of design software, finite element analysis, and optionally programming skills (e.g., Matlab, Python).
    • Other: Good organizational skills, communication skills, and ability to manage complex projects. Must be eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.
    Physical Demands
    • Ability to communicate clearly via phone, in person, and on computers.
    • Ability to learn quickly and apply concepts in a dynamic environment.
    • Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and operate office equipment.
    • Ability to travel locally and nationally.
