Genesee County 9-1-1 Central Dispatch is seeking dedicated and highly motivated individuals to serve as Public Safety Telecommunicators. This position plays a critical role in receiving, evaluating, and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and emergency medical services. Candidates must thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while delivering exceptional public service.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Deputy Director, or Director, Public Safety Telecommunicators are responsible for answering and dispatching both emergency and non-emergency service calls. Public Safety Telecommunicators are responsible for gathering vital information from callers and dispatching the appropriate emergency services: police, fire, and EMS. This role supports emergency operations across Genesee County, covering 31 communities served by 26 police agencies, 19 fire departments, and 4 ambulance services. Telecommunicators play a critical role by accurately retrieving, entering, and relaying information to first respondersensuring timely assistance, protecting lives, and safeguarding our communities.
Hours consist of a 12-hour shift (rotating week schedule) with every other weekend off. Must be available to work night shift, some holidays and overtime.
