Position Summary

This is a unique opportunity to blend the agility of a startup with the scale of a global retailer. This is a new position in a newly established team designed to seed and accelerate innovation and an intrapreneurial mindset across the whole organization. You will be a transformative force shaping the future of retail by developing end-to-end digital experiences, seamless omnichannel solutions, and rapid, customer-centric prototyping at scale. Were seeking a Full Stack Innovation Architect to build and deploy MVPs (Minimum Viable products) that drive tangible business outcomes across our entire operation - from supply chain and inventory to customer engagement, finance, Human Resources, Fuel, Operations and ever-dynamic Digital vertical.
Responsibilities
- Rapid Prototyping & Development: Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of rapid prototypes and proof-of-concepts (POCs) using AI assisted development practices and tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot to generate boilerplate code, scaffold APIs, and create functional UI components, enabling faster stakeholder validation.
- AI Solution Architecture: Architect and build scalable, enterprise-grade AI solutions that address key retail challenges in inventory management, supply chain optimization, personalized customer engagement, and operational efficiency.
- Full-Stack Execution: Utilize a comprehensive full-stack skill set to build and integrate both front-end (e.g., customer-facing applications, associate tools) and back-end (e.g., data processing pipelines, APIs, AI model deployment) components of innovative solutions.
- Compliance & Security: Develop MVPs that adhere to industrys established data security & privacy standards. MVPs must be enterprise ready for eventual scaling.
- Value & Data Driven Innovation: Translate data-driven insights into actionable operational improvements and new customer experiences. Meticulously leverage data to develop & refine MVPs.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner closely with business stakeholders, product managers, data scientists, and IT teams to understand core challenges, define project scope, and ensure tight alignment between technical solutions and strategic business objectives.
- Technology Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert within EG America on the application of AI in retail. Stay at the forefront of emerging AI tools, frameworks, and startup methodologies, bringing best-in-class practices to the team.
Key Success Measures
- Number of MVPs built, build time per MVP, and MVP-derived ROI.
- Quality of Technical documentation, and Speed to production transition.
- Adoption of next-generation solutions that position EG America as a leader in convenience retail innovation.
Working Relationships
Excellent cross-functional relationships across various departments such as IT, Finance, Marketing, Operations and Customer Service etc. and EG Field Team members (Stores, DMs & RMs)
Education & Experience
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Education: Masters in Information Technology
Minimum Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a full-stack development or solutions architect role, with a focus on innovation and digital transformation.
- Ability to demo prototypes, pitch solutions, and translate tech for business partners and stakeholders.
- Proven, hands-on experience with rapid prototyping, taking ideas from concept to functional prototype in short cycles.
- Hands-on expertise with retail AI tools, frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), and platforms, with a deep understanding of their application to inventory, supply chain, customer engagement, and business operations.
- Strong proficiency across the full stack, including front-end technologies (e.g., React, Vue.js), back-end languages (e.g., Python, Node.js), and database systems.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment or a corporate innovation lab.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and deploying AI/ML services.
- Familiarity with MLOps principles and tools for managing machine learning lifecycle.
- Experience with IoT technologies and their application in a retail setting (e.g., smart shelves, computer vision for checkout, sensor data).
- Proficient at hands-on prototyping & solution design using AI Tools (Ex: Cursor, Replit & Figma)
- Experience with design thinking, agile project management, or innovation frameworks.
- Strong track record in translating business challenges into innovative technology strategies.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, Proficiency with Data and Automation tools and Tech vendor management skills.

Other Requirements:
Travel:Ability to travel occasionally to store locations or vendor sites. Must be authorized to work in the USA without VISA sponsorship.
Hours & Conditions:Monday Friday 8 hour day in office setting
Physical Requirements:Ability to maneuver and regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
