Summary
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design and implementation of enterprise and data center-wide voice and data network solutions that align with business needs and architecture strategies. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining solutions across network, security/threat management, and voice systems.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of the Global Network Operations team, supporting diverse network environments for clients.
- Provide Level 3 operational support, including investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex network communications or performance issues affecting client environments or backbone access.
- Design, engineer, and implement advanced network solutions, including those involving complex security postures, access controls, and infrastructure architectures.
- Lead and participate in Incident Management, Change Management, Request Fulfillment, Event Management, and Problem Management activities for client environments.
- Act as a consultative resource for internal teams and external clients, providing expertise at both strategic and operational levels.
- Analyze and manage large-scale network capacity, providing modeling and recommendations for optimization.
- Proactively monitor client network performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and driving efficiency gains.
- Contribute to process automation, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance network operations.
- Provide strategic technical direction on highly complex network projects, including technology selection, design approach, and implementation strategies.
- Conduct research and evaluate emerging network technologies, defining roadmaps, user stories, and requirements to support evolving business and client needs.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including long-term network roadmap planning and execution.
- Analyze current and future industry trends to determine potential impacts on network systems and overall architecture.
Requirements
- Passion for networking and experience in fast-paced, highly technical network operations environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to deliver excellent customer support.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of executing tasks independently while demonstrating strong organizational and listening skills.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally.
- Expertise in network design, engineering, and architecture, including exposure to two or more of the following areas: LAN/WAN, firewalls, wireless, security, VoIP, QoS, and encryption technologies.
- Strong mastery of TCP/IP, including communications, addressing, and subnetting.
- Extensive knowledge of Cisco networking technologies, including routers, switches, wireless solutions, ACS, and ISE.
- Firewall experience with Checkpoint, Palo Alto, and Cisco ASA.
- Proficiency in network diagnostic tools and protocols such as EIGRP, BGP, eBGP, SNMP, VPN, SSH, and MPLS.
- Minimum of 2 years in a similar role, with at least 6 years of overall networking experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of routing and switching protocols.
- Experience with Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technologies such as Cisco ACI or VMware NSX.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible), a strong differentiator for this role.
- Experience with load balancing technologies such as F5, Netscaler, or A10.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Relevant Cisco certifications such as CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, or CCDE highly desired.
