Overview
20-28 hours a week, including nights and alternating Saturdays. $15$18/hour, with the higher rate reserved for highly experienced candidates. The Broadview Public Library District is looking to hire 2 part-time Public Services Associates.
Position 1: MondayThursday, 9:30am2:30pm, plus every other Saturday. Position 2: MondayThursday, 3:00pm8:00pm, plus every other Saturday.

We are seeking a proactive, dynamic, and collaborative team player who is also a self-starter to join our Public Services department. You will provide Library patrons with support in person and by phone. Successful candidates will be confident multi-taskers who enjoy problem solving.
Primary Duties
- Provides reference and reader's advisory services on a regular basis.
- Assists the public with general technology use, including library databases, the internet, and print materials.
- Helps patrons with printing, scanning, faxing, copying, and troubleshooting related equipment.
- Collaborates with professional staff to develop and deliver engaging programs, classes, and training for patrons of all ages and abilities.
- Provides input and assistance with broader event planning and outreach initiatives.
- Assists with collection development through the selection and evaluation of library materials.
- Assembles and arranges displays of public information, books, and other library materials.
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma/GED
- Minimum 2 years post high school customer service experience in a public or retail setting
- Work during the librarys open hours, which includes days, evenings, and Saturdays
- Access to reliable transportation
- Ability to work with diverse staff and patrons with varying abilities
- Intermediate computer and technology skills
- May be required to obtain certification and perform duties such as voter registrar
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to stay calm and effective in busy or challenging situations
Public speaking skills, including presentations to members of the public and specialty groups.
Preferred (Not Required)
- College BA or BS degree
- Valid drivers license
- Willing to become a BPLD-sponsored Notary
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
