Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 9:30a-6p (PRN).
Primary Purpose of Position:
This position provides initial screening, referral, and scheduling of members who call the toll-free PartnersACCESS Member Services number seeking health and behavioral health services. As appropriate, members are transferred to a clinician who will clinically triage/assess their acuity and determine the services they need and/or are eligible to receive.
Role and Responsibilities:
Screening, scheduling, and referral: Conduct initial screening of health/mental health/substance use/traumatic brain injury/intellectual and developmental disabilities treatment needs, benefit information, and referrals for members calling to determine eligibility for services. Collect and enter demographic data into electronic records, complete forms, explain services and benefits, verify Medicaid, and dispatch. Follow up with referral sources and members to ensure engagement in services. Make timely referrals to clinical homes and crisis providers as per NC Medicaid standards. Provide information about community resources, practitioners, and providers for basic benefit services. Handle information with high accuracy and confidentiality according to NC standards, laws, and policies. Authorizations:
Assist with authorizations/admissions to state hospitals, ADATC, Three Way Hospitals, Level III Detox, Facility Based Crisis, and other crisis services. Process other acute care authorizations as requested. Automation:
Complete screenings using standard and specialized computer programs. Input accurate information, unlock electronic service records, and enter necessary data. Provide technical assistance to responders, providers, and crisis management teams. Cooperative Efforts:
Maintain effective working relationships within the unit, agency, and service system. Demonstrate professionalism and tact, especially when handling irate callers or working with external providers. Participate in meetings and committees as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of health, mental health, substance use, TBI, I/DD services, laws, and community resources. Understanding of call center functions, confidentiality laws, and program protocols. Excellent computer skills and ability to multitask effectively. Judgment skills for screening, triage, and referral decisions. Effective communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain confidentiality. Education/Experience:
Required: Bachelors Degree in a related field or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with at least 2 years healthcare or MH/SU/IDD experience.
Preferred: LPNs with at least 4 years healthcare and/or MH/SU/IDD experience.
