GNC is seeking an Associate Merchant to join our global headquarters team and lead the development and execution of innovative merchandising strategies for GNCs International Franchise business. This position is central to shaping the global merchandising vision while delivering impactful assortments, programs, and tools that enhance franchisee performance and brand relevance across diverse markets. The Associate Merchant is responsible for ownership of strategic merchandise categories or countries with accountability for attaining budgeted sales, gross margin, and building market share within the categories through the creation of promotions, merchandising concepts, field communications, and new product launches. This position is responsible for searching out new, competitive opportunities within assigned categories and driving the business to ensure an industry leading position for GNC.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in global merchandising, with an understanding of franchise or wholesale business models in a variety of channels and the expertise to leverage go-to-market strategies and end-to-end product lifecycle expertise such as visual guidance, marketing collaboration, promotions, inventory optimization, and category management to drive growth worldwide.

What Youll Do:

This is a Full-Time Salary Position

The International Associate Merchant works closely with international franchisees and local market leaders, providing the resources and expertise needed to implement global initiatives successfully. This includes ensuring brand consistency and driving business results through localized channel assortments and programs. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure seamless execution of global strategies across all markets.

  • Contribute to category and/or regional assortment development and implement necessary plans to achieve or exceed sales and margin goals for assigned international channels and/or regions.
  • Assist in negotiating agreements with third party vendors to secure preferred products, pricing, vendor marketing programs, and promotions to drive existing and new customers into GNC, including exclusive programs.
  • Own the third-party product approval and new product concept submission processes.
  • Support supervisor in research and studying of market trends and competitive data to support successful launch of new products.
  • Collaborate with key functional areas to ensure sales of existing and new brands are maximized with proper communication, promotion, creative merchandising, and adequate inventory while eliminating unproductive SKUs.
  • Manage the necessary internal resources and data to conduct line reviews and general product maintenance.
  • Assist in the development of annual business plans incorporating forecasted sales and margin, new product launches, and supporting marketing, and promotional activities for assigned categories and/or countries.
  • Monitor retail price competitiveness to ensure maximum sales and profitability per SKU for current and new assortment development.
  • Ensure that promotional materials and merchandise support materials are shipped in a timely manner to the partner and that communication of these materials is clear.
  • Enhance the scope of proprietary and third-party brands by working closely with brand, marketing, operations, and other cross-functional teams to prioritize, plan, and implement sales materials, training, and marketing materials that support the global merchandising strategy, plus category sales and margin objectives.
  • Develop and distribute effective external assortment tools and reports to support in-market sales efforts; Provide accurate and timely communication of these resources to internal and external areas of the business.
  • Accountable for maintenance and accuracy of promotion and inventory management files, planning calendars, and any supporting assortment trackers or reports assuring flawless execution.
  • Regularly present to external franchise partners and internal leadership.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Environmental Factors & Working Schedule:

  • Hybrid work environment, 2-3 days in-person attendance (Pittsburgh, PA) in addition to ability to work remotely.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear
  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include long periods of computer screen usage, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low/moderate

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required
  • 3+ years experience in an analytical, merchandising, buying, and/or wholesale capacity or equivalent combination of education and experience in the supplements industry or international business preferred
  • Intune with supplements, wellness, and adjacent product trends
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
  • Fluency in a second language a plus
