Makes rounds, evaluates care needed and rendered. Develops care plans and teaches healthcare principles. Administers medication, including narcotics. Delivers all direct nursing care as needed. Performs specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusions, incubation, CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and phlebotomy duties. Organizes and oversees code blue team. Directs healthcare staff assigned to the area. Acts as lead worker in charge of one assigned shift in the absence of the nurse 2 employee. Assists physician in providing diagnostic health evaluations. Performs clerical tasks, including charting and recording all medications, treatments, and pertinent medical information. Completes required reports such as incident and accident reports. Documents necessary information. Orders supplies and equipment. Maintains constant and exact inventory of all controlled drugs, medications, and equipment. Arranges for outpatient clinic appointments and medical examinations. Facilitates new and refilled prescriptions ordered by physicians. Performs administrative tasks and serves as liaison within the organization. Conducts or attends meetings. Serves as instructor on occasion. Serves as a member or leader of problem-solving initiatives.
