About the Role The Senior Manager, CFO Operations & People Programs will play a critical role at the intersection of Finance and People Operations. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will divide their time equally between overseeing payroll, benefits, and people-related programs, and driving high-impact projects sponsored by the CFO. Position Summary The Senior Manager, CFO Operations & People Programs will serve as a key member of the Finance leadership team, reporting directly to the CFO. This role bridges finance and people operations, with equal focus on payroll, benefits, and people program oversight (50%) as well as CFO-driven strategic initiatives and special projects (50%). The individual will combine hands-on operational execution with a strategic mindset, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and value creation across finance-linked people programs and broader CFO initiatives. Key Responsibilities Payroll, Benefits & People Programs (50%) • Oversee payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and continuous process improvement. • Partner with HR as appropriate to manage benefit programs (healthcare, retirement, wellness, leaves of absence), including vendor relationships, annual renewals, and open enrollment. • Administer the company's 401(k) and retirement plans, including compliance, reporting, and employee communication (partner with HR as appropriate). • Partner with HR and external advisors to ensure competitive, compliant, and cost-effective benefit offerings. • Support compliance with ERISA, IRS, DOL, and other regulatory requirements. CFO Operations & Strategic Projects (50%) • Partner directly with the CFO on high-priority projects such as financial process optimization, M&A integration, compliance initiatives, and cross-functional business analyses. • Develop dashboards and reporting that provide transparency into payroll, benefits, and related financial and operational metrics. • Lead project management for CFO-sponsored initiatives, coordinating across finance, HR, operations, and external partners. • Support CFO communications, including board reporting and presentations related to people programs and financial operations. • Identify and implement automation, outsourcing, or system enhancements to streamline workflows across finance and HR intersections. Leadership & Collaboration • Build strong relationships with Finance, HR, Legal, and external advisors to ensure seamless execution of programs. • Lead and mentor team members (if applicable) and foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and service. • Act as a trusted advisor to the CFO and leadership team, balancing execution with forward-looking analysis and recommendations. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in related fields (HR, finance, etc.) or MBA • 7-10 years of progressive experience in payroll, benefits, finance, or people operations roles. • Strong knowledge of payroll and benefits compliance, including ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations. • Demonstrated ability to manage vendors, negotiate contracts, and oversee benefit programs. • Project management experience, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with executive-level presence. • High integrity, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information.
