A Brief Overview The patient care assistant functions under the direction of the professional nurse; performs specific duties necessary for the support of nursing care and reports all observations and results to the RN.
What you will do - Ensuring the supervision of patients at all times
- Assisting patients with basic personal care, and to move or walk around
- Providing patients with emotional support
- Provided nutritional support
- Monitoring patients' vital signs
- Observe changes in the condition of patients and report to the registered nurse
- Alert nursing staff when patients need help
- Maintain records of care provided for patients
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Adhere to relevant policies, procedures, and standards
- Completes all required educational programs annually
- Demonstrates understanding of safety and infection control practices, emergency procedures, fire drills, evacuation procedures, and internal/external disaster plans and procedures
Education Qualifications - High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience Qualifications - 1-3 years 1 year required or
- Acute or Sub acute experience preferred
Licenses and Certifications - CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation HeartSaver CPR upon hire required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support American Heart Association upon hire preferred
