Job Description :
MAIL CLERK Responsible for all phases of mail production & distribution within the instructed guidelines & timeframes of the mailroom Supervisor. This includes sorting, researching, and delivering the mail to designated mail stops. Responsible for providing administrative support services, this includes processing badges, tracking work orders, and answering general inquiry calls. Requires attention to detail, excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and strong organizational skills. This role is part of a federal contract, which mandates that most of the work hours must be carried out by individuals with disabilities. Due to program requirements, this particular position must be filled by a person with a disability. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Records all incoming USPS accountable packages on the proper log
  • Sort incoming mail by routing symbol, checks the physical condition, quality, address, name and routing symbol before signing for any shipment. Makes sure that any physical damage is noted on the accompanying paperwork and initiated by the driver. Assists in placing all mail on the scanner and moving it to the sorting tables.
  • Look up names on mail with no routing symbol. Write the routing symbol on the front along with clerk's initials & sort into proper tray.
  • Identify suspicious mail according to FAA established procedures. Isolate suspicious mail in assigned container.
  • Receive, sort and distribute outgoing as well as incoming mail and packages according to postal regulations and requirements
  • Prepare bulk mail for return to post office.
  • Weighs, stamp and makes arrangements for outgoing mail and packages and operates postage metering machine
  • Re-address undeliverable mail bearing incomplete or incorrect addresses
  • Maintains records and logs of receipt, mailing dates, and other required information
  • Must meet established standards of quality & productivity with/without supervision
  • Process and issue PIV badges for employees, contractors, and visitors, maintaining secure records, and complying with relevant federal guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of issued badges in the organization's database, ensuring that privacy and confidentiality standards are upheld.
  • Manage, track, and process work order tickets for various maintenance, repair, or service tasks within the FAA.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees or clients submitting work order request.
  • Answer calls and general inquiries, coordinate front desk activities.
  • Facilitates the efficient operation of the Building Services Office by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
This may not constitute an entire list of dutiesREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Preferred knowledge of U.S. Postal regulations in the process of dealing with incoming, outgoing, certified, registered & express mail.
  • Ability to problem-solve with excellent organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, or at least has several years of experience and is comfortable using the program
  • Detail-oriented and capable of handling a high-volume, fast-paced office
  • Able to manage multi-line phones and operate standard office equipment (fax, copier, scanner)
  • Excellent in customer service, a fast learner, and able to retain information
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • HS/GED
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be able to pass a Federal background check
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

  • MS Office, mailroom / FAA computer software, fax, office equipment and postage metering machines.

  • Must be able to travel as needed
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry, and move items up to 50 pounds at times
  • Must be able to stand, reach and walk for long periods of time
