Schedule: Monday-Friday, split schedule approx: (6:00 AM-10:30 AM & 2:00 PM-8:00 PM, ~50 hours/week). Flexibility required for occasional weekends, overnights when the father travels, and to adjust hours as needed.
About the Household This warm and welcoming household is led by a single father who runs multiple businesses and is raising two school-aged children (ages 9 and 11). Set on a scenic property in the hill towns outside Albany, the home offers a peaceful backdrop, bordering a nature preserve. After 6-7 years of hosting au pairs, the family is ready to welcome a professional, long-term live-in family assistant who can provide consistency, structure, and a nurturing presence. The household also includes goats, rabbits, a small dog, and a bird, though outdoor/pet care is handled by a groundskeeper.
Key Responsibilities:
Childcare & Family Support - Oversee morning routine: wake children, assist with uniforms, prepare lunches, and ensure a smooth start to the day.
- Handle school drop-offs/pick-ups and manage after-school routines (homework, activities, and sports).
- Support academics and school communication through technology platforms and apps.
- Prepare healthy meals and snacks for children; manage dinners and school lunches.
- Provide full-charge care, including overnights when the father travels.
Household Management - Grocery shopping, household errands, and weekly inventory management for groceries and supplies.
- Children's laundry, closet organization, and seasonal clothing rotation.
- Keep children's spaces (bedrooms, playroom, kitchen) organized and tidy.
- Coordinate family schedules using a shared iCalendar (school, sports, activities).
- Establish household systems and routines to keep the home running smoothly.
Ideal Candidate: - Minimum of 5 years' experience as a family assistant, or household manager.
- Prior live-in experience strongly preferred.
- Resilient, patient, nurturing, and reliable - with the ability to provide structure while staying warm and supportive.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable with apps, school portals, and digital calendars.
- Valid driver's license required; own vehicle a plus (family can provide if needed).
- Flexible and adaptable; able to manage a busy, high-energy household as well as quieter days.
- Highly organized and proactive in setting up household systems.
Compensation & Benefits: - $30-$35/hour, $1500-$1750/week
