About You

Your contribution

As a member of the Retail Operations team, you will be responsible for consulting with our ShopRite and Alternate Banner Members, store management and retail staff with regard to the operations and merchandising of our Floral Departments. You will make recommendations about innovative/state of the art merchandising strategies and technological advances to ensure long-term growth and profitability. A successful merchandiser analyzes market trends, understands the importance of seasonality and creativity in the craft. You will counsel our stores with regard to departmental sales, gross profit, shrink, product quality, training and customer service. This is accomplished through the establishment of Member/Store specific business plans which enhance market share, build sales, and ensure profitability in their respective trade areas. You will conduct store visits to ensure merchandising standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are in place in order to deliver consistent execution and financial results by leading and coaching for improvement. The merchandiser shares best practices throughout the cooperative. In addition, the floral merchandiser is charged with the implementation and successful execution of all resets, remodels, new store setups and openings.

The preferred candidate will reside in southern NJ.

What you will do

  • Direct and consult our ShopRite Members on all innovative/state of the art merchandising strategies and technological advances to ensure long-term growth and profitability.
  • Develop Member/Store specific business plans which enhance market share, build sales, and ensure profitability in their respective trade areas.
  • Charged with the implementation and successful execution of all resets, remodels, new store setups and openings.
  • Counsel our stores with regard to departmental sales, gross profit, shrink, product quality, training and customer service.
  • Utilize expertise in supermarket floral operations and merchandising with an emphasis on technical training and the preparation of action plans to improve business results.
  • Comply with all company guidelines and regulations involving company issued vehicles, including safe driving practices and timely completion of expense reporting.

What we're looking for

  • Four-year college degree or currently enrolled with a minimum of 60 or more college credits towards a bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years floral management or supervisory experience in supermarket floral operations and merchandising with an emphasis on technical training and the preparation of action plans to improve business results.
  • Strong technical, analytical, leadership, customer service and Microsoft Office skills as demonstrated by previous work experience.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to display and teach Customer Service Excellence at store level.
  • Extensive production equipment knowledge and department design skills.
  • Knowledge of retail store operations related to sales, gross profit, labor requirements and retail merchandising.
  • Flexibility with regard to travel (overnight stays required)
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record

How you will work

  • Ability to drive long distances and travel for consecutive hours
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs or more
  • Ability to stay overnight for multiple days, including weeklong trips and weekends

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is: $65,000 - $80,000 per year.

Placement in the range depends on several factors, including experience, skills, education, geography, and budget considerations. Additional experience may warrant additional compensation.
