  • Clinical Nurse role providing safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others.
  • Delivers patient care incorporating Relationship Centered Care and nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational nursing standards.
  • Assesses and evaluates patient care needs applying critical thinking skills.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare team in plan of care development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Prioritizes patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning after hospital care, and delegation.
  • Educates patients and caregivers about plan of care, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, family, and healthcare team.
  • Manages assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model and allocates material resources effectively.
  • Role models Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care through various patient care actions such as Admission Welcome, Bedside shift Report, Purposeful Hourly Rounding, Medication Review, Discharge Wrap Up, and MD/RN Unit Collaboration.
  • Considers patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in care.
  • Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Uses evidence-based practices to understand patients' perceptions of care.
  • Initiates service recovery and escalates concerns as needed.

    Job Requirements
  • NYS Registered Nurse License required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Unit experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years RN experience required.
  • 1 year travel experience required for Travel positions; not required for Per Diem positions.
  • EPIC experience highly preferred.
    Schedule Information
  • 3x12 hour shifts schedule.
  • Weekends required.

  • Unit: 6W Medicine Unit.

  • Staffing ratio 1:6.
  • Average census 22 patients.
  • 29 beds in unit.
