Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical skills, and communication skills to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, identifies urgent or emergent care priorities, and collaboratively provides direct care, applying appropriate interventions, and evaluating patient progress. The RN utilizes various invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions to manage life-threatening and routine emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Connect with patients and families during triage, identifying priorities of care.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments for all age groups, documenting deviations and critical needs.
• Encourage mutual trust and cooperation among team members for optimal patient outcomes.
• Teach patients and families about required care and post-emergency procedures.
• Maintain communication with patients and families throughout ED visits, anticipating their needs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Two years of experience serving as a Registered Nurse, with at least one year in an ED environment.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (must be AHA or RQI).
• State nursing license required.
