We are currently seeking a Director of Supply Management. The work location for this dynamic opportunity is flexible, and can be based anywhere in the US.

The Supply Management organization plays a critical role in enabling this mission by ensuring that goods and services are sourced, delivered, and managed effectively. Achieving world-class performance requires developing best-in-class processes tailored to the organization's unique objectives. The Director of Supply Management will be instrumental in advancing these efforts, driving category strategies, strengthening supplier relationships, and leading or supporting key initiatives to improve processes, systems, and supplier performance over time.

The Director of Supply Management is a strategic leader responsible for driving category strategies, optimizing procurement performance, and ensuring operational excellence in support of the organization's mission. With an initial focus on logistics services, this role oversees the sourcing, negotiation, and management of certain goods and services essential to the organization's supply chain. This position would also be responsible for leading special projects and initiatives designed to improve efficiencies and add business value to the mission such as implementing innovative procurement technologies, and supporting cross-functional initiatives that strengthen resilience, reduce cost and enhance service delivery to those we serve.

Reporting to senior leadership, the Director will lead and develop a high-performing supply management team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and compliance with all applicable Federal, State, local, and organizational regulations. This includes setting category initiatives, enhancing supplier relationships, and implementing procurement strategies that align with organizational goals, deliver value, and maintain quality standards.

As a data-informed and forward-looking leader, the Director leverages operational and supplier insights, emerging technologies and advanced analytics to shape sourcing strategies, strengthen category management, and anticipate supply chain and supplier risks. Partnering across procurement, finance, and business operations, this role blends strategic vision with hands-on execution to guide decisions, lead negotiations, and deliver sustainable value to the communities we serve.

The Director of Supply Management has a broad scope of leadership responsibilities and accountabilities that may evolve as organizational priorities change. Key areas of focus include, but are not limited to:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team, fostering collaboration, engagement and alignment with organizational goals.
• Provide strategic leadership for assigned categories, projects, and initiatives within supply management, serving as a key member of the management team and primary liaison to business units and corporate functions.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with internal business clients and key partners (e.g., Legal, Risk Management), ensuring a deep understanding of business needs to proactively anticipate requirements and support effective work planning and execution.
• Anticipate market shifts, supply chain risks, and organizational needs by leveraging data, dashboards, and performance metrics to keep leadership informed, guide decision-making, and adapt strategies proactively or as challenges emerge.
• Translate the overall vision for category strategies into actionable plans, ensuring successful execution in partnership with stakeholders.
• Develop and implement sourcing and procurement strategies that enhance operational efficiency, resource stewardship, and mission impact, delivering measurable year-over-year value (e.g., financial, service quality, risk reduction, etc.) improvement in areas of responsibility.
• Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms, quality standards, reliable supply, and appropriate risk mitigation for goods and services. Work with internal partners to assess third-party risk and develop mitigation strategies.
• Partner with stakeholders to ensure the end-to-end procurement process, from requisition through delivery, functions effectively, delivering compliance, timeliness, cost efficiency and organizational value.
• Monitor supplier performance, assess and manage associated risks, resolve disputes, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement based on data, market trends, benchmarking and evolving business needs.
• Lead and or manage cross-functional projects and initiatives, apply strong project management, organization, and prioritization skills to drive execution, meet deadlines and deliver measurable business value.
• Perform other duties and take on special assignments as needed to support organizational priorities and advance the mission.
• The salary range for this position is: $123,000 - $154,000
• Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.

This role is not eligible for relocation.

What You Need to Succeed

Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or related field required; Master's degree preferred.

Certifications: Professional certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, CPIM) preferred.

Experience: Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible procurement or supply chain management experience, including at least 5 years in a people leadership role. Direct experience in logistics and transportation desirable. Prior experience working in a matrixed global/regional business structure desirable.

Skills & Abilities:

• Strong understanding of supply chain management principles, procurement processes, negotiation, vendor relationship management and contracts
• Strategic thinking with a curious, analytical mindset, able to make sound decisions under changing conditions.
• Proven leadership and team development skills, with adept influencing skills and the ability to build productive, collaborative relationships across functions.
• Effective communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver clear presentations and stakeholder communications. Daily appearance on video for meetings is a requirement for this position.
• Highly organized, adaptable, and able to guide teams through high-pressure, deadline-driven situations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and business acumen, with a solid understanding of business structures, processes, and information flow in a multi-business unit organization.
• Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and comfort managing through ambiguity.

Travel: Up to 25% travel may be required.

Physical Requirements Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software, and office equipment for sustained periods of time. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.
