Job Description: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery

Location: Montclair, NJ 07042Shift: Day Shift, 3x12-Hour (11:00 AM – 11:00 PM or 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)Contract Length: 13 WeeksNumber of Positions: 1

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join the team at Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center. This role is ideal for nurses with strong clinical skills in labor & delivery and experience in high-volume birthing units.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive care for laboring patients including high-risk antepartum cases.
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and circulate for C-sections.
• Administer medications such as anticoagulants, insulin drips, antihypertensives, and magnesium sulfate therapy.
• Perform sterile vaginal exams and monitor fetal status using IUPC (Intrauterine Pressure Catheter).
• Maintain and manage central lines (CVC/PICC).
• Triage obstetrical patients efficiently and accurately.
• Adhere to isolation precautions and infection control protocols.
• Document all patient care using EPIC charting system.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience.
• First-time travelers accepted with multi-facility L&D experience.
• Experience in units with 200–300 births/month preferred.
• Previous academic experience preferred.

Certifications (Required):

• BLS – Basic Life Support
• ACLS – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
• NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• High-risk antepartum care
• Academic medical center experience
• Use of EPIC EMR
• Charge RN experience (preferred but not required)
