The Patient Care Associate, under the guidance of a Registered Professional Nurse, provides basic nursing care and implements selected aspects of the patient's nursing plan of care within the limits of his/her on-the-job training and in accordance with the Brooklyn Hospital Center's mission and goals. * High School Graduate or GED* Completion of Medical Assistant program -- HIGHLY PREFERRED* Completion of an EKG / Phlebotomy training program from accredited institution * One (1) year patient care experience in a healthcare facility * Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)* Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training and or Certification completed within 90 days of hire and every two years thereafter* Knowledge of phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring, rapid COVID testing and ability to document results in designated systems* Ability to perform quality electrocardiogram tests* Knowledge of the Patient Care Associate role in the care of patients identified with Suicidal Risk/ aggression and Trauma risk factors* Ability to use computers and understanding of computer systems
