Job SummaryProvides professional nursing care in accordance with Ambulatory Care standards, American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN), and Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). The RN delivers care during pre-operative, post-operative, and transfer phases for patients across the lifespan, from neonate to geriatric. Care responsibilities include outpatient medical and oncology patients, surgical and procedure patients (including blocked patients, emergency/inpatient add-on cases), Phase II recovery, and gastroenterology patients. Utilizes the nursing process—assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation—to ensure safe, effective, and optimal patient outcomes at discharge.
Responsibilities
- Provide pre-operative, pre-procedure, post-operative, and post-procedure nursing care in ambulatory settings.
- Apply ASPAN and AORN standards in daily practice.
- Assess patient needs, develop care plans, implement nursing interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
- Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and respond appropriately to life-threatening emergencies.
- Collaborate effectively as a team member and serve as a liaison between patients, families, and staff.
- Communicate with professionalism, tact, and sensitivity in all interactions.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Support harmonious workplace communication and teamwork.
Requirements
Experience
- Prior experience in perioperative, ambulatory surgery, or PACU setting preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Pennsylvania.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association, renewed every 2 years.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association, renewed every 2 years.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association, renewed every 2 years.
Education
- Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse program required.
- Successful completion of an EKG course preferred.
