Material Handler - Day Shift

The Material Handler plays a crucial role in supporting warehouse operations by assisting with various activities. The individual in this position must understand the importance of their role within the Food Safety Management System and report any food safety and quality concerns to the appropriate personnel. Performing all job functions safely and adhering to standard practices is essential to achieve both food safety and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, weigh, and record the weight of both empty and loaded pallets.
  • Follow standard practices to maintain cleanliness and suitable conditions in the warehouse.
  • Operate a forklift as needed for receiving, storing, and loading products.
  • Complete all required training sessions.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and food safety policies.
  • Conduct daily inspections of forklifts.
  • Inspect trailers before loading.
  • Maintain organizational rotation of finished products (FIFO).
  • Organize finished products and consumables within the warehouse.
  • Utilize barcode scanners or other technology as required for job functions.
  • Handle products designated for reprocessing in the production area.
  • Ensure regular and timely attendance.
  • Provide documentation and information related to the handling, storage, and loading of warehouse items, including shipping documents and inventory count information.
  • Perform basic duties of the supervisor in their absence.

Essential Skills:

  • Operate a forklift with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5 years of mobile equipment experience (forklift).
  • Experience in food manufacturing.
  • Secondary diploma/GED or equivalent.

Work Environment:

Work is performed while standing, sitting, or walking, with physical demands such as bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching. Employees must be able to lift or carry at least 50 lbs. The work environment involves exposure to moving machinery and occasional marked changes in temperature and humidity. Day shift hours are 7am - 7pm with a rotating schedule, and a purple hard hat is provided. Clean jeans and a t-shirt are required attire, with no holes, tears, or offensive logos allowed.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of EVANSVILLE, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $24.43 - $25.43/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms. If eligible, the benefits available for this temporary role may include the following:
