Role

The VP, AI Enablement will report to the Chief Digital Officer and will be responsible for driving the strategy, development and implementation of innovative product technology approaches across Cengage Group, including, but not limited to, generative AI, to transform the educational experience for students and instructors and add value to Cengage Group and its portfolio of products.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role that identifies strategic opportunities in a rapidly evolving market. The role provides opportunities to work directly with senior leaders, including the Executive Team, to help transform the education marketplace.

What you'll do here

• Develop a comprehensive strategy for using generative AI in our education products and services.
• Identify opportunities to enhance learning outcomes, personalize experiences, and optimize educational content using AI technologies to deliver value and solve challenges.
• Collaborate with Product Teams to build and align on an innovation strategy and roadmap that harnesses AI in course materials across Higher Ed, School, and Work businesses.
• Conduct financial analysis to assess the cost-benefit and ROI of implementing generative AI in our products and services; analyze market trends, competitor strategies, and customer needs to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
• Partner with Corporate Development to assess investment or acquisition opportunities that yield clear advantages and upside for our products and services.
• Develop AI application business cases and determine investment levels required for Cengage Group.
• Work with the research team to conduct market research identifying demand, customer preferences, and emerging trends in education; use insights to advise product development, pricing strategies, and marketing for generative AI offerings.
• Establish guidelines for the ethical use of generative AI, addressing privacy, bias, and fairness; champion visibility, accountability, and responsible AI practices.
• Assess and manage the changing risk landscape to protect Cengage IP over the long term.
• Lead internal and external teams to develop and deploy generative AI solutions; provide mentorship to cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Be a visible People Leader and model of Cengages People Leader Expectations.
• Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate generative AI into our educational products.
• Establish strategic partnerships with external organizations and technology vendors to drive innovation and access AI capabilities.
• Stay abreast of advancements in generative AI, machine learning, and natural language processing; explore trends and identify applications in education to keep the company at the forefront of innovation.
• Define key performance indicators and metrics to evaluate effectiveness and impact; monitor and optimize AI models to improve accuracy, efficiency, and user satisfaction.

Skills you will need here

• 12 years of leadership experience in product management and technology
• 15 years of general experience in technology/product management
• Deep hands-on understanding of innovation and AI technologies and trends relevant to education technology (e.g., LMS systems)
• Strong leadership and management skills with a track record of delivering successful products to market
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with customers and cross-functional teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and develop insights and recommendations
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Compensation

Base pay range: $200,000.00 - $250,000.00 USD. Individual base pay varies by schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and location. Sales roles may include incentive compensation beyond base pay. Total rewards information is available here:
