In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.# **What you will be doing**The Director of Operational Excellence (Resource & Capacity Operational Lead) is primarily responsible for the daily management and optimization of outpatient and procedural block capacity. This leader ensures operational realities and clinical needs are addressed in real time, working closely with physicians and operational leaders to make timely schedule adjustments, solve capacity problems, and implement governance-approved policies and procedures. This role serves as a key liaison between governance, front-line operations, and clinical stakeholders. The Director will report directly to the Sr Director of Capacity Planning.The Director will own and drive projects to completion with specific tasks including but not limited to: development and presentation of leadership-ready materials, design of change management and communication plans, facilitation of discussions with multiple stakeholders, mentoring and training junior staff members, design and execution of analytics, and building complex models to inform decision-making and performance improvement. To this end, the Director will leverage analytical, strategic planning, project management, change management, and communication skills to ensure project success.**Key Responsibilities:*** **Daily Management of Outpatient Block Capacity** + Act as the centralized day-to-day operational owner of outpatient session block schedules. + Proactively address schedule conflicts, resource constraints by collaborating with providers and support teams.* **Collaboration & Operational Integration** + Serve as the primary operational partner for physicians and clinical leaders, ensuring that schedule changes support both provider preferences and organizational objectives. + Ensure all operational considerations are factored into scheduling decisions and adjustments.* **Governance Coordination** + Collaborate with governance committees to communicate issues from daily operations, recommend policy or guideline changes, and ensure the consistent implementation of governance decisions. + Work with Service Line team, Regional Sites and operational owners to reflect the governance decisions around session block time changes + Help facilitate the two-way flow of information between governance and operations, ensuring front-line compliance and escalation of unresolved problems.* **Continuous Improvement** + Monitor and report on key metrics related to schedule utilization, patient access, and operational efficiency. + Identify recurring barriers or inefficiencies and bring actionable recommendations to governance and leadership.**Education- Required:*** Bachelor's degree (BA)* Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master's, PhD in Management, operations or related topics**Skills & Experience – Required:*** 5+ years in healthcare operations, capacity management, or clinical support experience or hospital operations consulting* Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effectively communicates with various departments to disseminate and receive information as requested* Proven ability to problem-solve, collaborate, and communicate effectively with physicians, operational leaders, and staff* Demonstrated skill in real-time decision-making and operational troubleshooting* Experience leading and facilitating meetings with effective outcomes* Exemplary proficiency in leveraging a diverse array of software and spreadsheet applications, notably MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Tableau, to excel in executing process mapping, process design, and work-flow management tasks with exceptional accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness* Experience working on multiple projects involving large data sets, data cleaning, data normalization, mapping, and validation* Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines in an environment of constant change with a continuous improvement mindset* High emotional intelligence and ability to collaborate with both clinical and administrative stakeholders* Possesses an excitement for change* Ability to acquire skills and knowledge effectively and efficiently* Ability to influence people, build relationships and collaborate* Knowledge of process improvement methodologies**Skills & Experience – Preferred*** Experience in coaching junior team members through complex tasks, improving the quality of their deliverables, and being a trusted mentor to junior team members* Experience working in healthcare systems and hospitals, deep knowledge in hospital operations* Familiarity with Epic EMR* Experience in applying a project management framework**Non-Discrimination Policy** Hospital for Special Surgery is committed to providing high quality care and skilled, compassionate, reliable service to our community in a safe and healing environment.
