Shipping & Receiving Lead
Location: Independence, VA
Salary: $40,000 annually
About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a respected manufacturing client to hire a Shipping & Receiving Lead. This role is responsible for overseeing all shipping and receiving functions, coordinating logistics, and ensuring accuracy in inventory management. The right candidate will thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and be a key contributor to operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare finished products for shipment and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Schedule shipments and plan logistics to ensure proper staging and staffing.
- Receive incoming products, verify accuracy, and update inventory systems.
- Maintain documentation for product traceability and auditing purposes.
- Organize, clean, and catalog the warehouse to maintain efficiency.
- Monitor inventory levels and report stock issues, shortages, or unusable product.
- Troubleshoot shipping/receiving challenges and customer concerns, working collaboratively to resolve issues.
- Lead and direct Shipping/Receiving Clerks to ensure an efficient warehouse operation.
- Stay current with federal and state regulations related to shipping and receiving.
- Promote and enforce 5S practices to support a safe and organized work environment.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively at all levels.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficient in computer systems, email, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to make sound decisions based on factual data and manage multiple priorities independently.
- Professional, tactful, and quality-focused approach to problem-solving.
- Prior leadership experience in a warehouse or shipping/receiving environment preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout an 812 hour shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally without restriction.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move large or bulky products.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
