Required Qualifications: Per Civil Service Standards and Specifications. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid Class B NYS Commercial Drivers License (CDL). In addition, must participate in the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (drug and alcohol testing) as required; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. ( - - - Out-of-State Applicants, see Special Notes). Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of the Vehicle and Traffic Law as it applies to the safe and legal operation of vehicles operated. Working knowledge of simple automotive repair and maintenance procedures. Working knowledge of routes to specific locations normally visited. Ability to physically operate assigned vehicles safely and effectively under various road conditions. Ability to plan routes to specific locations and to properly estimate time required to reach the locations.
