Many older adults in San Diego quietly struggle with hunger and loneliness. For those who are homebound, getting a hot, nourishing meal isn't always possible, and going days without meaningful interaction can affect their well-being. Without regular support, these neighbors of ours face not only physical challenges, but emotional ones as well, often feeling forgotten or disconnected from the world around them.
That's where JFS Foodmobile volunteers make a world of difference. With warmth in their hearts and meals in hand, they use their own vehicles to deliver freshly prepared, kosher-style meals right to the doors of older adults throughout the community. But what truly matters most is the human connection: a kind smile, a few shared words, a moment of care. For many older adults, it's the highlight of their day. More than just delivering food, our volunteers bring comfort, dignity, and a powerful reminder that someone is thinking of them. To support these wonderful volunteers, JFS offers secondary insurance and mileage reimbursement.
