About the role

Position: Description: What You\'ll Do and Who You\'ll Work With. Reporting directly to the Director of Electrical Engineering, the Principal Engineer will be responsible for electrical engineering design aspects of capital projects and facility upgrades, electrical design support for planned outages and design requirements related to equipment troubleshooting, and business development/expansion projects at various operating facilities. This position will lead, manage and execute multiple electrical projects/programs in the network. The Engineer will provide subject matter expertise and lead cross functional teams while driving technical standardization as a guardian of certain Electrical Design Standards for Reworld. Acting as a potential mentor for more junior members of the team, the Engineer will share best practices and technical expertise. This is a unique opportunity to work across stakeholders and groups, with high visibility and direct impact on our success. You will also act as a primary Electrical Engineering SME to the business.

Location/Travel: Preferred location is Morristown, NJ Headquarters. This role requires close collaboration with corporate functions and facilities and will include approximately 20% travel across the network. Travel to domestic locations as well as low-cost countries (e.g., China) may be required. A remote work option is available with some additional travel to Morristown and across the network. Compensation varies by location.

Responsibilities

• Electrical Design (Core Responsibility): Independently develop/review/approve electrical system design documents including One Line/Three Line Diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, arc flash, short circuit & voltage drop calculations, coordination studies. Develop scope of work for Electrical AE firms and coordinate with suppliers and contractors.
• Plans design tasks to achieve design and construction within budget and schedule. May assume duties of technical lead and SME for small to medium capital programs. Electrical design scope includes system design, scope development, engineering calculations, specifications, and risk assessments for HV, MV systems (switchgear, transformers, MCCs, relay/protection systems).
• Engineering Standards: Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria; act as guardian of key electrical design standards/specifications as SME. Update design standards and specifications to reflect industry best practices and regulatory developments.
• Commissioning/Startup: Provide SME design support to Project Managers on assigned construction projects and engineering support for commissioning and installations.
• Troubleshooting/Problem Solving: Provide electrical design troubleshooting support to plant operations. Analyze root causes of failures and develop cost-effective technical solutions for RCAs.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 10 years engineering experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain licensure is preferred.
• Experience with High, Medium & Low Voltage distribution systems and electrical power generation in large utility power plants or large industrial facilities, including knowledge of substation equipment, MCCs, PDCs, and related electrical process plant equipment.
• Experience with protective relaying schemes (Medium Voltage) including coordination and relay settings; SEL relays experience is highly preferred.
• Proficiency with CAD/AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM Powertools, SEL Acselenator (note: retain original intent; if misspelling exists, keep as-is), and related engineering software.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to analyze data, write technical reports, and develop work packages for implementation; ability to handle multiple assignments.
