The Opportunity

G4GC is seeking a strategic and equity-driven Senior Director of Operations to lead and strengthen its internal infrastructure. Reporting to the Vice President, this experienced leader will oversee the day-to-day operations and long-term systems that support G4GC's people, programs, and partnerships.

The Operations Department is the engine of the organization, ensuring that systems, infrastructure, and processes are aligned with G4GC's mission to resource organizations led by and for girls and gender-expansive youth of color. With a focus on equity, integrity, and sustainability, the team creates the internal conditions necessary for transformative work to thrive.

Core functions include office management, events planning, compliance, technology, and administrative operations. The department brings G4GC's values—transformation, authenticity, accountability, inclusivity, urgency, love, freedom, and creativity—to life by fostering collaboration, building inclusive systems, and stewarding resources responsibly.

As part of the extended leadership team, the Senior Director will play a critical role in shaping the organization's long-term strategy and cultivating an internal culture grounded in equity and care.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy Operations Leadership
  • Design and implement operational strategies, systems, and policies that align with G4GC's mission and strategic plan.
  • Support the Vice President and Executive Team in long-term infrastructure development and planning for organizational sustainability.
  • Act as a thought partner on organizational decision-making, risk management, and operational equity.
  • Lead, mentor, and support the Operations team, including the Operations Manager, Events Specialist Manager, and Administrative Associate.
  • Provide holistic supervision that leans into staff expertise while proactively supporting professional development, growth, and accountability.
  • Foster strong collaboration across functions—ensuring that operations, events, technology, and administrative workflows are integrated and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Inspire a team culture grounded in collaboration, care, equity, and accountability, while modeling inclusive and transparent leadership.
  • Develop and monitor departmental goals, work plans, and performance metrics, ensuring policies and procedures are not only created but consistently implemented and reinforced across the organization.
  • Lead the adoption, integration, and management of technology systems across the organization.
  • Identify tools and platforms that drive efficiency, collaboration, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Oversee data privacy, digital security, and compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Oversee and engage IT consultants to ensure technology systems, platforms, and infrastructure effectively support the organization's operations.
  • Manage vendor relationships, set priorities, and translate organizational needs into clear scopes of work, deliverables, and performance expectations.
Core Operations & Administration
  • Oversee administrative functions including HR administration, office management, IT, and contracting, in partnership with Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure quality service delivery that supports G4GC's staff and partners.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President and Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors to ensure effective fiscal oversight and grant compliance.
  • Serve as a decisive partner to program, research, and development teams, ensuring operations can respond quickly and strategically to program delivery, communications, and funder reporting while reinforcing clarity and transparency across teams.
  • Support cross-functional workflows and ensure operational consistency across teams.
  • Foster a culture of care, accountability, and collaboration throughout the organization.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a seasoned operations leader who combines strategic systems thinking with a deep commitment to equity and organizational care. They bring a track record of building and strengthening operations in complex, mission-driven organizations and understand how to align internal infrastructure with bold, movement-centered goals. With the ability to anticipate needs and make decisions in real time, this leader ensures that G4GC's systems, protocols, and infrastructure are not only efficient but also values-driven and responsive to the realities of staff and youth-centered work.

This leader will be an inclusive and adaptive manager, skilled at fostering a collaborative and trusting culture across a diverse team. They engage staff expertise, provide supervision with strong emotional intelligence, and proactively support the professional growth of their team. They understand that effective operations require clarity of roles, consistent communication, and the cultivation of staff capacity. Their management style emphasizes accountability, empowerment, and care ensuring that team members feel both supported and challenged to bring their best work forward. Importantly, this leader has the ability to ensure that policies and procedures move beyond being “sitting on a shelf” by embedding them into daily practice, holding staff accountable, and creating consistent systems for follow-through and support.

Finally, the ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution. They are equally comfortable setting long-term operational strategies as they are rolling up their sleeves to troubleshoot immediate challenges—from technology integration and vendor oversight to safety protocols and event logistics. They bring the discernment to know when to manage directly, when to delegate, and when to strategically engage external partners. Above all, they will be a thought partner to leadership and a culture carrier across the organization, ensuring that operations are a foundation for sustainability, equity, and transformative impact.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in nonprofit or philanthropic operations, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience designing and managing mission-aligned operational systems.
  • Strong strategic thinking and organizational development skills.
  • Demonstrated experience providing staff supervision with a strong EQ, supporting staff growth, and cultivating a positive team culture.
  • A background in ensuring policies and procedures are operationalized and embedded into practice.
  • Proven ability to make timely, sound decisions in dynamic environments, balancing strategic foresight with day-to-day execution.
  • Experience implementing project management systems and overseeing IT/cybersecurity consultants
  • Ability to select and manage vendors with an equity lens.
  • Comfort with financial systems and contracting along with ability to partner effectively with fiscal sponsors
  • Collaborative leader with experience supporting programmatic or grantmaking teams.
  • Proficiency in cloud-based platforms and digital tools (e.g., Salesforce, Asana, Google Workspace).
  • Familiarity with participatory or trust-based philanthropy preferred.

This role is based in Brooklyn, New York with an expectation of working in-office 1-2 times a week. The salary range for this position is$145,000–$190,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package. Compensation is determined by a variety of factor including the candidate's experiences and qualifications aligned to the requirements of the role and internal pay equity.
