Position Title: Director of Information Technology Services

Reporting To: Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty

Job Overview: The Director of Information Technology is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for managing and advancing all aspects of technology at Albertus Magnus College. This role ensures the effective operation, security, and evolution of the college's IT systems and services in support of teaching, learning, and administration. The Director will lead a team of IT professionals and is responsible for infrastructure, user support, cybersecurity, compliance, enterprise systems—including Ellucian Colleague—and technology planning. This is an in-person position.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute an IT strategic plan aligned with institutional goals and academic priorities.
  • Serve as a technology advisor to the senior leadership team.
  • Foster a forward-thinking, service-oriented IT culture across campus.
  • Oversee implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Ellucian Colleague and other enterprise systems (e.g., LMS, CRM, reporting tools).
  • Partner with administrative and academic departments to ensure systems support functional needs.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
  • Lead campus-wide cybersecurity efforts, including risk assessment, mitigation strategies, training, and incident response.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal regulations and standards (e.g., FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
  • Maintain and regularly update IT policies, disaster recovery plans, and data governance protocols.
IT Infrastructure & Support
  • Manage network, servers, data storage, cloud services, telecommunications, and endpoint devices.
  • Oversee IT help desk operations to ensure timely and high-quality support for faculty, staff, and students.
People & Budget Management
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of IT professionals; ensure professional development and effective team collaboration.
  • Develop and manage the IT departmental budget, procurement, and vendor relationships.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Direct experience managing Ellucian Colleague or a similar enterprise system in a higher education setting.
  • Proven experience in cybersecurity strategy, including implementation of security protocols and training.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal regulatory compliance (FERPA, GLBA, etc.).
  • Excellent project management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in small-college or private liberal arts environments.
  • Familiarity with instructional technology platforms and online learning tools.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's preferred.

  • Technology Skills: Proficient in Google Suite, LMSs, portal and email systems, MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and the Internet. Ability to learn new applications quickly, including organization-wide information systems and department-specific software applications. Ability to teach by leveraging the learning management system and other technology tools.
  • Language Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively provide information and positively respond to questions from both external and internal customers in person and by phone. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a number of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work independently and as a group member in developing and executing project plans. Ability to work in the theoretical arena and apply logic as appropriate.
