Shared Services Community Health Specialist Description If you enjoy a dynamic work environment that combines both office and fieldwork, this position could be a great fit for you. Our client is looking for a Shared Services Community Health Specialist to serve as an expert on environmental public health for the SCPHC communities. This position is a combination of a typical office setting and working within the community, sometimes requiring you to work outside normal business hours. Travel to off-site locations may include anywhere inside the SCPHC service area including the Towns of Marion, Rochester, Freetown, Lakeville, and Westport Health Departments. Responsibilities • Perform environmental inspections and provide guidance in relation to public health and safety regulations in member communities. • Provide training and support to member communities and their staff in updating their respective environmental public health programs. • Develop policy and procedures for environmental health programs. • Provide regular reports to the SCPHC Board with oversight by the Town of Westport Director of Public Health. • Enforce state and local public health laws and regulations including food safety, tobacco control and prevention, and mosquito control. • Perform administrative support duties as needed. • Investigate health-related complaints and work towards compliance with state and local health codes. • Develop and maintain relations with key community stakeholders and organizations. • Reviews plans for Disposal Works Construction Permits, building permits, food establishments, swimming pools, etc. in compliance with state and local health codes. • Work with Health Department staff (Directors, Agents, and Nurses) to implement individual and community assessments. Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in public health, health administration, social work or related field • Master's Degree (Preferred) • 3-5 years of experience • Community Health Worker Certification (Preferred) • Soil Evaluators License & System Inspector License preferred (required within 18 months of hire) • Valid Massachusetts driver's license • Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules and regulations pertaining to public health and environmental health, and current inspection techniques as well as enforcement practices. • Literacy in computer software including Microsoft Office; GIS software skills is a plus.
