Are you an experienced payroll professional looking to take ownership of complex, multi-state payroll operations? Our client is seeking a Senior Payroll Administrator to join their HR team. This individual will manage the full payroll cycle, ensure compliance with federal and state laws, and serve as the go-to resource for payroll processes, systems, and best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Handle end-to-end payroll processing for employees across multiple states and entities.
- Stay current on federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and tax regulations.
- Oversee deductions such as benefits, garnishments, and retirement contributions, while working closely with HR, Finance, and Benefits teams.
- Lead quarterly and year-end reporting, including W-2s and related filings.
- Provide timely, professional responses to payroll-related questions from employees.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and streamlined workflows.
- Act as an escalation point and mentor for junior team members.
- Support system implementations, upgrades, and vendor transitions through testing, training, and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Accounting, Business, or related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of payroll administration experience, including multi-state payroll.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll laws and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with UKG Core and Workforce Dimensions (required).
- Exposure to other platforms such as ADP, Workday, or Paylocity is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and v-lookups.
- High attention to detail, confidentiality, and integrity.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
- Preferred: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
