About the Role
This role involves analyzing technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations, supplier facilities, and parts/equipment availability. You will play a key role in supplier evaluation, production support, and ensuring quality standards in line with aerospace and defense requirements.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and recommend potential suppliers based on specification responses and historical performance.
- Facilitate technical trade-offs and standardization for cost-effective procurement.
- Recommend design changes to resolve production challenges.
- Support internal and supplier teams in addressing producibility, quality, inspection, mistake-proofing, and testing issues.
- Perform basic quality services, including:
- Part/product acceptance inspection planning and verification.
- Supplier manufacturing process and quality plan review.
- Defect root cause analysis and corrective action verification.
- Foster strong working relationships with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
- Utilize technical documentation (engineering drawings, change documentation, specifications, and data sheets) for vendor part evaluation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline or equivalent experience/combined education.
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in supplier quality, manufacturing, or related fields.
Required Skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to evaluate manufacturing process quality plans.
- Experience with defect data trend analysis and risk-based decision making.
- Skilled in root cause analysis and corrective action verification.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments both independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of mechanical/electro-mechanical hardware, manufacturing processes, and inspections.
- Familiarity with ISO9001 & AS9100 Quality Management Systems (including AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements).
Preferred Skills
- Working knowledge of EPDM, SAP, COS, and P2P systems.
