Job Location : Mossville,IL, USA
The person will work with the whole system design for machine controls to design and align customer needs, systems performance, component design and interface.
They will work with caterpillar managers internally to understand the whole system and what they want the machine to do. They will evaluate hardware components to determine what they need and what the module capabilities are. They will work with the harness team to understand the requests and whats most feasible for the hardware components. They will work with the component team to configure and propose what they will use. This person will need to drive conflicting stake holders to alignment.
They will work with the datalink, harness, electronic hardware and software teams to ensure all systems are working properly together. They will use HIL to test but this is not the main part of their job. They will do machine systems design and testing for the electronic hardware and software to ship.
Required Qualifications
· Four-year engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience (required)
· 3 years of engineering experience (would consider 3 but prefer 5+)
· Experience with electronically controlled mechanical systems (required)
· Electrical components / systems experience. Read a schematic and troubleshoot basic machine wiring issues. (required)
· Data link communication knowledge (required)
· Embedded C software experience (nice to have)
· Experience developing embedded real-time software or systems for mobile, earthmoving, agricultural, industrial, or off-highway applications (required)
· Experience with FMEA processes and a basic knowledge of electronic system failure modes (very nice to have)
