Our top-tier benefits and great retirement packages can help you build a rewarding career and lasting future with the State of Illinois.Essential Functions* Performs journey level work inpainting, redecorating and refinishing of walls, interior and exterior, woodwork, furniture and fixture for renovation and maintenance at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds (DSF).* Performs work in DSF Fairgrounds computer & sign lab.* Prepares interior or exterior walls, metal surfaces, floors, ceiling and equipment for painting.* Erects ladders or scaffolding needed for painting and repairing interior and exterior walls.* Performs shop work at facilities.* Inspects work sites to determine amount and type of materials needed for painting projects.* Performs other duties as assigned or required which or reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.Minimum Qualifications* Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school.* Requires successful completion of a recognized painter apprenticeship program and two years of full-time journey level painter experience or six years of full-time journey level painter experience.Preferred Qualifications* Prefers working knowledge of the tool, materials, methods and standard practices of the trade.* Prefers skill in the use of the tools of the trade such as paint brushes, paint rollers, paint sprayers, paint pans, razor scraper, putty knife, power sanders, buffers, power washers, etc.* Prefers ability to make simple mathematical computations in estimating area of surfaces to be painted.* Prefers ability to estimate time, labor and materials necessary to complete work orders.* Prefers the ability to instruct and direct unskilled workers.* Prefers the ability to blend paints and match colors.* Prefers ability to read and interpret blueprints, simple sketches, and drawings.* Prefers the ability to interpret work from verbal or written specifications.* Prefers ability to operate power lifts and overhead platforms.Conditions of Employment* Requires completion of a name-based background screening and self-disclosure of criminal history.* Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties.
