Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution
Location: Tampa, FL (Onsite)
Duration: 6 Month Contract
Pay: $60/hr W2 ONLY
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution (T&D) to lead large-scale electrical infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of transmission line, substation, and distribution system projects, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with major utilities and will bring proven expertise in project execution, stakeholder management, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage transmission line and substation projects from initiation through completion.
- Oversee construction and upgrades of transmission lines, including reconductoring, structure replacements, and installation of insulators and switchgear.
- Manage ground-up construction of transmission lines and substations, including upgrades to breakers, transformers, and bus configurations.
- Coordinate project activities: mobilization, logistics, material procurement, and subcontractor management.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and tracking systems (PO tracking, bid sheets, timelines).
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define specifications, deliverables, and timelines.
- Supervise and support project teams, including construction managers, coordinators, QC specialists, and HSE personnel.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships; ensure progress aligns with expectations.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and industry standards.
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks to ensure successful delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Proven project management experience in the energy/utilities sector, focused on transmission and distribution.
- Track record managing projects for utility companies
- Hands-on experience with transmission lines, substations, and distribution systems (reconductoring, upgrades, viper reclosers, switchgear).
- Strong project management skills: scheduling, budgeting, vendor coordination, risk management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, SharePoint, and project management tools.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously with resource optimization.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills for guiding teams and engaging clients.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
- Experience with SCADA communications and telecom equipment.
- Knowledge of transmission voltages (230kV–500kV), specifications, and regulations.
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferred).
