Our client, a Forbes award-winning Fortune 500 Company is looking to bring on a Director-level in-house Counsel, to their legal team based out of the northern Chicago suburbs. This individual will provide strategic corporate/anti-trust advice and commercial support to senior management & executives of the company. You will also lead complex, high-dollar value business deals with distributors and their 10,000+ channel partners.
Job Title: Senior Counsel
Location: Northern Chicago Suburbs (3 days in)
Structure: Reports directly into the VP, General Counsel EMEA & NA
Job description:
- Master knowledge of the overall business, with an intimate understanding of the region or business unit, and becomes embedded with key business team as a trusted partner
- Serves as primary legal representative for the region or business unit, offering proactive solutions and risk mitigation strategies
- Acts as senior subject matter expert on all country-specific legal requirements and provides legal counsel on a wide array of areas, including Commercial strategy, anti-trust & competition, data privacy, and corporate governance
- Bring creativitive and strategic ideas to C-suite executives to continue to grow the company
- Keeps abreast of legislative changes with a focus on antitrust/competition law, and proactively drives understanding across legal teams
- Ensures proper due diligence and compliance with corporate policies and applicable laws
- Drafts contracts of varying complexity, including contracts for which there are no existing templates and that require significant creativity
- Promotes common tools, processes, practices and is a strong participant in departmental IT projects.
Qualifications:
- 7-15+ years of experience
- Experience in anti-trust, commercial, or corporate law within an in-house (preferred) or law firm setting.
- JD from accredited law school
