Job Summary:
The Clinical Research Nurse will collaborate closely with Clinical Research Management and Principal Investigators (PIs) to facilitate the implementation and oversight of research involving human subjects. This role is essential in maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines while supporting the healthcare system's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review medical records to identify potential research subjects and maintain detailed documentation of their progress throughout the study.
- Engage with and recruit clinical study subjects, managing appointments and evaluations.
- Provide comprehensive education to research subjects and their families about their involvement in the study, treatment options, and informed consent processes.
- Conduct nursing assessments and closely monitor subjects during clinical trials, reporting any adverse reactions promptly to the PI.
- Coordinate necessary laboratory tests and document all findings in the study participant's records.
- Perform various clinical tasks, including administering study drugs and conducting physical assessments as required.
- Prepare biological specimens for laboratory analysis and communicate results effectively with the PI and medical staff.
- Work collaboratively with research staff to assess and improve the success of ongoing studies.
- Participate in team meetings and discussions regarding treatment plans and new therapies.
- Manage databases and assist in data collection and literature review for research protocols.
- Develop informed consent documentation in accordance with FDA regulations and assist in project submissions.
- Contribute to the writing of research papers for publication and presentations.
- Provide training for nursing and research personnel on study protocols and procedures.
- Ensure a sufficient inventory of research supplies is maintained for study activities.
- Other duties as assigned to support the research team.
Qualifications:
- Virginia RN License or equivalent required.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Preferred: 2 years of experience in clinical research.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with computer proficiency.
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
