Job Details- Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse providing safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others.
- Delivers patient care incorporating Relationship Centered Care and nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational nursing standards.
- Assesses and evaluates patient care needs applying critical thinking skills.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare team in plan of care development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Prioritizes patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning after hospital care, and delegating as appropriate.
- Educates patients and caregivers about plan of care, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, family, and healthcare team.
- Manages assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.
- Role models Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care through various patient care actions.
- Considers patient's values, preferences, cultural diversity, and knowledge in care.
- Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Uses evidence-based practices to understand patients' perceptions of care.
- Initiates service recovery for patient and family concerns.
- Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.
- Supports staff use of evidence-based practices.
- Conducts Purposeful Hourly Rounding addressing the 4 Ps.
- Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.
- Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety.
- Implements process improvement strategies based on institutional and evidence-based procedures.
- Engages in peer and institutional review processes.
- Collaborates on quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research studies.
- Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance measures.
- Implements high reliability principles to avoid high risk behaviors.
- Escalates potential safety hazards or gaps following institutional protocol.
- Documents nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Job Requirements- NYS RN License required.
- BLS certification required.
- Minimum 2 years of postpartum and antepartum nursing experience.
- Minimum 2 years RN experience.
- 1 year travel experience required for Travel positions, not required for Per Diem positions.
- EPIC experience highly preferred.
Schedule Information- Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12).
Unit Specific Information- Unit average census: 17.4 patients.
- Unit has 23 beds.
- Unit provides postpartum and antepartum care.
