Requirements

The position of Scientist, Filtration Product Development is a team member responsible for aspects of the design and development of new polymeric membranes for Life Science markets. This may include working with a team of membrane scientists to develop new generation of hollow fibre membranes and taking sole responsibility for membrane characterization (water flux, porometry, etc.), as well as performance testing.

General Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Study and understand requirements for CTQs of membranes used in bioprocess, execute membrane testing (morphology and performance), plan and execute scaled-down filtration applications. Effectively lead research projects within R&D, including proper planning, daily benchwork, control and completion.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all experiments and graph all relevant trend data along with the appropriate controls.
  • Maintain all instruments and equipment in excellent condition, keep all work areas neat and clean, and follow all safety procedures without exception.
  • Perform other functions required for the development, commercialization, and/or support of new products, as required.

Qualifications:

  • BS or equivalent in Biochemistry/biology/chemistry or related field (MS or PhD preferred) with min. 3 years focus on bioprocess.
  • Previous exposure to characterization of membranes with respect to separation characteristics, pore size, both in direct and/or tangential flow applications is highly desired.
  • Experience with cell culture, small scale bioreactors, filtration, and analytical techniques is required. Ability to analyze data, interpret results, and make informed decisions based on experimental data. Able to rapidly refine tech/marketing info through literature reading and form ideas/protocols to present to team.
  • Excellent working knowledge of current instrumentation, robotics, and automation is desired.
  • Strong ability to think outside the box and apply your skills creatively to solve problems.
  • Outgoing personality with excellent English. Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
