Primary Purpose
Responsible for the overall management of the district's state and federal programs, curriculum and instruction function, campus support, and specific district operations. Collaborate with administration to ensure the district's compliance with state and federal programs. Collaborate with administration in the strategic planning and implementation of curriculum and instruction programs. Help ensure that the development and delivery of curriculum and instructional programs are effective and efficient, incorporate district goals, and support student achievement. Responsible for overseeing the academic program, under the direction of the campus principals, ensure sound implementation of curriculum and staff development to improve student achievement.
Qualifications
Education/Certification: Master's degree in education administration
Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of curriculum and instruction; Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness; Ability to implement policy and procedures; Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Experience
Three years of experience as a classroom teacher. Experience in instructional leadership roles (preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties
State and Federal Program ManagementCollaborate with superintendent and campus principals to ensure compliance by establishing procedures to monitor and reevaluate state and federal programs.Attend all state and federal compliance meetings offered at service center or locally required.Facilitate all required state and federal meetings at the district and campus level.Instructional and Program ManagementCollaborate with principals on the development and delivery of curriculum and instructional programs that incorporate district goals and support student achievement.Facilitate the district decision-making process to establish and review the district's goals and objectives and major classroom instructional programs. Ensure that goals and objectives are developed using effective collaborative processes and problem-solving techniques.Monitor and reevaluate instructional programs on an ongoing basis using input from teachers and principals, applied research, and student data to determine effectiveness and improve outcomes. Recommend changes and adjustments where appropriate.Ensure that the necessary time, resources, materials, and technology to support accomplishment of education goals are available.Collaborate with principals, teachers, and other instructional staff to develop, maintain, and revise curriculum documents based on a systematic review and analysis.Collaborate with principals to engage instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional tools and materials to meet student learning needs.Actively support the efforts of others to achieve district goals and objectives and campus performance objectives (academic excellence indicators).Collaborate with principals to oversee staff development programs and ensure that effective activities that support instructional programs, incorporate input from teachers and principals, and are consistent with the district's mission are provided.Participate in the implementation of the designated teacher appraisal system.Assist the school principal with the overall administration of the instructional program at the campus level and coordinate assigned student activities and services.Provide leadership in the identification, evaluation, and selection of instructional programs, resources, and equipment for increased student achievement.Facilitate improved student performance through the professional growth of teachers and staff as measured by course work and assessment data.Provide quality instructional support and feedback on the instructional effectiveness of the campus.School ImprovementCollaborate with campus counselors to plan and coordinate tutorials, interventions, additional support and resources, and other instructional programs for students in need of assistance.Assist superintendent and campus principals with the development of an effective district and campus improvement plan based on student needs.Ensure that student progress is evaluated on a regular, systematic basis and that the findings are used to make instructional programs and services more effective.Policy, Reports, and LawEnsure compliance with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.CommunicationEnsure that established goals and expectations related to implementation of the curriculum and instruction programs are communicated clearly, consistently, and in a timely manner.Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with principals, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.TestingImplement procedures for ensuring security and confidentiality of state-mandated testing programs and other assessments. Direct and oversee test implementation and monitor testing activities to ensure that procedures are followed and deadlines met.Provide timely support for testing administrators.Consult with staff to provide appropriate testing accommodation for Limited English Proficient (LEP) students and students receiving special services.Identify, investigate, and address testing irregularities. Report discrepancies and disciplinary actions taken against students as required.Analysis and CollaborationDevelop and distribute statistical studies, analysis, and evaluation reports as required.Work with instructional teams to analyze test data and develop student achievement goals and objectives.Consult with district staff to develop, administer, and interpret assessment guidelines and procedures.Recordkeeping, Reporting, and InventoryMaintain and ensure integrity of testing data. Ensure all materials and data are submitted within established timelines.Complete evaluation and compliance reports as required by federal and state programs.Track and monitor location of test materials throughout the distribution, return, and storage process.Compile, maintain, file, and secure all reports, records, and other required documents.OtherPrepare and deliver written and oral presentations on curriculum and instruction issues to the board, principals, teachers, parents, and community groups. Attend regular meetings of the board.Stay abreast of current research and best practices in curriculum and instruction and adjust plans, policies, and procedures accordingly.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws related to curriculum and instruction. Stay abreast of state and federal public policy changes that could impact the district.Contribute to the development and delivery of training for district and campus test administrators to ensure that tests are conducted and procedures are consistently followed.And other duties as assigned.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
